Our vision of twenty first century’s higher education is to provide an enabling environment at AIOU for research, innovation and creativity. We believe that creation of knowledge and dissemination of knowledge goes hand in hand. In past three years we have published ten research journals in different fields and have had a series of workshops, seminars and conferences hosted by various departments and faculties. Amongst which 5 seminars regarding Urban Health, Environmental Conservation, Policy Seminars etc. had been organized by department of Home & Health Sciences. It gives me immense satisfaction that eminent scholars from abroad, faculty members from around the country and students have participated in these events and shared their research.

To support this, there is a need for behavioral change to achieve Sustainable Development, which integrates environment, economy and society. I welcome all the Environmental and Health practitioners, researchers, academicians at international and national level to come and share their research contributive towards safeguarding the environment and improving the health. I am sure that this 1st International Multidisciplinary Conference on Health & Environment will provide you a platform to contribute in moving a step forward towards achieving Sustainable Developmental Goals. It is great honor and my pleasure to invite you to participate in the 1st International Conference of Health and Environment. This Conference brings together domain experts, scientists and researchers providing them with the opportunity to share and discuss the achievements and challenges in the field of health and environment. It will, help to establish new academic and industry research collaborations to achieve towards global challenges and on indispensable requirement for sustainable development. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) seek to realize the human rights of all and to achieve gender equality. SDGs are integrated and balance the economic, environmental and social dimensions of sustainable development. This conference will definitely be a step forward to provide guidance on the themes of SDGs.


Message of The Conference Chair (Prof. Dr. Nomana Anjum)


The supportive role of the built environment for human health is a fast growing area of interdisciplinary research and policy development. The conference theme “Health and Environment: Go Green Get Healthy” is in recognition of the importance of Urban Planning and Development– where communities live, work and learn experiencing the healthy environments. This requires sensitivity and actions in multiple sectors including preventive health education, food Security, Infrastructure development, urban planning, built and natural environment etc. In accordance with its vision for Healthy Sustainable Environments the department seeks to identify best practices at national and International level that might be shared among the professionals and academia and adapted for the creation of healthy life style opportunities. We hope that two-day conference deliberations will evolve strategies for engaging the public and securing policy-makers support for the creation of socially inclusive healthy communities.


About The Conference


Department of Home and Health Sciences, AIOU invites the participants from all over the world to attend First International Conference on Environment and Health on March 21-22, 2018 in Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, Pakistan which includes keynote presentations, oral talks and poster presentations.

Environmental improvements for health can make important contributions towards achieving the SDGs vision 2030 of United Nations Organization. Many of which are closely interlinked with the environmental and social determinants of health. Numerous socioeconomic conditions are closely related to environmental exposures and health. Social determinants influence the exposure to and the effect of environmental risks, which consequently lead to illness and disease, resulting in multiple repercussions on their socioeconomic status.

The present conference has been planned to gather preventive health and environmental professionals under one umbrella. This will help to share recent advances in research, find solutions and way forward towards environmental friendly healthy society. The department of Home & Health Sciences since its inception has contributed towards improving community impact with the help of its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It will build a unique multi sectoral platform by aligning Industry & all prospective players across Pakistan with international expertise towards preventive health and sustainable environment.

Objectives


• To provide an opportunity to share the research based current knowledge in the field of Environment and Health.

• To bring together researchers, academician and professionals from selected disciplines such as health, nutrition and environment with cross disciplinary & interdisciplinary interests to bridge the knowledge gap and promote research.

Abstract Guidelines

The abstract must be submitted in Microsoft Word format. It should be between 150 and 300 words. The author(s) should provide a title, the name(s) of the author(s), author affiliation(s) and keywords (at least three and no more than six). The abstract should give a good description of the aims and key points of the paper to be presented. It should include: (1) Brief Background/Introduction (2) Objective (3) Methodology (4) Results (5) Conclusion

Detailed guidelines are as follows:

1. The title should be 14-point Times New Roman, in capital and sentence case letters.

2. The name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s) should be 10-point and should appear below the title, with one blank line after the title. The Western naming convention, with given names preceding surnames, should be used (for e.g. Nomana Anjum, Zaheer Ahmed, ----), Chinese authors should write their names in English with their given names in front of their surnames.

3. The keywords should appear below the abstract, with one blank line after the abstract.

4. The abstract should be 10-point times, single space and justified.

5. The e-mail address and contact number (Cell) corresponding author should be provided as footnote.

ICHE 2018 invites authors to submit previously unpublished research papers for podium or poster presentation.

University Hostel

  • VIP Room (R.s 1250) for 1 person per night.
  • Student Room(R.s 500 ) for 1 person per night.
  • VIP Room (R.s 2500) for 2 persons per night.
  • Student Room (R.s 1000) for 2 persons per night.

General Instructions

  • Every Scholar has to share a room with partner.
  • If you want to share the room with your own partner, kindly mention his name and pay double fee.
  • If you want to book the whole room for yourself, then you have to pay double fee.
  • The university hostel has limited rooms available.
  • Rooms will allotted on first come first serve basis.
  • The university reserves the right to cancel the registration of any scholar.
